Mountain Garland (Clarkia unguiculata 'Mountain Garland') is a stunning cultivated variety of Clarkia unguiculata, an annual wildflower native to California, where it thrives in dry woodlands, chaparral, and grasslands. This selection is known for its tall, graceful stems adorned with dense clusters of elegant white flowers, which occassionally display a double-petalled, ruffled form. Blooming from late spring to early summer, Mountain Garland adds a burst of color to native flower gardens and pollinator-friendly landscapes.

Clarkia unguiculata is a nectar source for native bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Bumblebees and solitary bees frequently visit the flowers, and also occassionally attracts hummingbirds. In its natural habitat, this species plays an important role in supporting biodiversity, thriving in dry soils where other plants may struggle. Its drought tolerance and ability to reseed make it a valuable addition to low-maintenance, water-wise gardens.

Mountain Garland thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils, including sandy, loamy, or rocky substrates. It is easy to grow from seed, requiring no stratification. Direct seeding in late winter to early spring allows the plants to become well-established before blooming.
