Native Bulb Seeds

Truly remarkable botanical treasures, these species are characterized by their exceptional beauty, rarity, and unique life cycle.

By patiently investing years in bulb development early in life, these plants are adapted to endure brutally long periods of drought and winter before bursting into vibrant, ephemeral spring bloom when conditions are right, with some species living for many years. Sadly, these beautiful and culturally important plants are now highly threatened due to habitat loss from conventional agriculture, forestry, and urban development, as well as poaching of wild populations and pressure from herbivores in the historic absence of predators such as wolves and raptors. Once a cornerstone of abundant, traditional food systems throughout our region, they are now often found only in specific, natural habitats (making encounters a truly special experience).

As we protect and slowly restore these invaluable species, we have the rare opportunity to witness the zenith of long, patient cultivation in the form of exceptional beauty. These enchanting blooms remind us of nature's capacity for wonder, resilience, and the delicate interconnectedness of humanity, the landscape, and regionally endemic plant life.
